I have known love

Love ruined lives

Broke spirits

Erased entire existences

I have known love

Love troubled hearts

Drained souls

Drove the most stable minds to insanity

Love made the safest places the thorniest

Wore down patience and grace

Rid the heart of kindness

Took and took until you had no more cares to give

I have known love

Love looked like bloodied fists

Pouncing on you unexpectedly

Hitting and hitting until you bled lifeless, pleading for it's mercy

I have known love

Love is spiteful

Love is chaos in calm

Love is choosing to stay even when leaving is the most loving option

Love suffocates you until you are a shadow of yourself

I have known love— the yearn for it's presence and denial of it’s absence

Every day I wake up with the taste of blood in my mouth

It tastes like the love I’ve known

I have known love

Love has always coexisted with hate

An intense ever active battlefield

My little note of gratitude to you:

It has been super difficult coming to this point where I'm able to share my poetry. However, "Battlefield" officially marks the first of many pieces to come! For your love and support that has brought me to this place where I feel safe and free to share, I will never not be thankful. Also, with regards to the piece: I am grateful that I have come to know love beyond what is represented in it. If you've ever known what's represented in there, I hope you've also come to know love beyond that. If not yet, I promise you will. I hope you let yourself.

Love eternally, Tea
